A Place of Honor

Angela Sanson of Ohio said she pays tribute to her 7-year-old tuxedo kitty VELCRO by putting her name on her license plate. “A friend was visiting one night after I brought her home. I came into the room to find her clinging to his sweater, meowing into his face,” Angela said. “’Call her Velcro,’ he suggested. And, well, the name just stuck!”

To show her love for her cat, Misty, Ohio resident Carol Shankle put her cat’s name on her license plate. Misty has since passed away, but Carol said she keeps MISTY 6 to honor her memory.

In Memory

Susan Jurist of California said she changed her license plate to CHAYA after her 9-month-old kitten was euthanized after being diagnosed with the disease feline infectious peritonitis.

Cindy Turkett of New York said shortly after her 15-year-old longhair, Suds, passed away, she decided to honor him by getting vanity license plates with SUDS 15 on them to reflect his name and age.

“It was the least I could do for a little creature that always loved me unconditionally and gave me happiness,” Cindy said. “During our 15 years together, he taught me responsibility, compassion and most of all, that the heart has an unlimited capacity for love.”
