E-cards (continued)

www.animalcard.com: As its name implies, this web site is devoted to animal-themed greeting cards. It also features an Animal Lovers Gift Shop. At this site, you actually create your card starting with a photograph. After selecting an animal type (cats), I was able to choose either a general cat image or one that was breed-specific. Since I’m partial to Persians, I found one that closely-resembles my Blue Smoke. I was then able to select a specific color for the background and text, stamp for the e-envelope, and heading. I added a personal message and signature and previewed the card before hitting the send button.

www.bluemountain.com: This web site has a calendar of holidays on its home page, but did not include National Pet Week in its May listing. It provides several categories from which to choose (Every Day; Stay in Touch; Birthday; Comfort, Encouragement and Congratuations; Kids; Teens; Love; Events and Milestones; Family; Earth, Plants and Animals (Pets is a sub-category); Arts and Literature; Seasonal; Interests; and Professions. Under “Get Well,” I discovered “Nurse Kitty” and after selecting that one, added my personal message.

Like the world wide web in general, e-cards give us yet another opportunity to communicate and stay in touch with those we want to know we’re thinking of them.
